Lauren Brown

Hello, crochet friends! Thanks for stopping by. Here in my little corner of the Internet you’ll find easy crochet patterns that are beautiful and fun to make

While I do make the occasional yarn splurge, I typically use budget-friendly yarns that are still soft and pretty. You can find my favorite yarn for crochet blankets and my favorite cotton yarn for dishcloths in the linked posts.

Hi, I’m Lauren Brown!

I’m the girl behind this crochet blog and the Daisy Cottage Designs Etsy shop. I’ve been writing crochet patterns and sharing them since 2011. I want to help you answer the question, “What should I crochet next?”

I love spending time with my husband and daughters, being involved at my church, and piddling in my “container garden.” Most importantly, I’m a born again Christian, and I’m so thankful for the difference that Jesus has made in my life.

I’d love to connect on all the social media platforms! You can find me on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube.

I’m kind of famous.

Actually, I’m absolutely not.

But, my patterns have been very popular on RavelryAll Free Crochet, and other well-known crochet sites. I’ve also sold over 80k ad-free patterns on Etsy.

I’ve been Interviewed by Women’s World Magazine as a crochet expert, and Hobby Lobby even asked me to go in and explore their yarn section and give them my feedback.

Believe it or not, I have had people recognize me as the girl behind Daisy Cottage Designs a time or two when out and about.

How it All Started…

I didn’t graduate from high school with the intention of majoring in Crochet Design in college. Wouldn’t that be a fun major, though? In fact, I had only touched a crochet hook one time before the age of 23.

When my oldest was born, my mother-in-law gifted her a gorgeous crocheted blanket. My daughter didn’t take long to fall in love with it. (My oldest is a sophomore in high school and still loves that blanket… the holes prove how well-loved it is)

Since she became attached to the blanket, I thought it would be a good idea to have a backup lovey. So, I set out on an adventure to learn how to crochet.

After lots of YouTube videos, a few sessions with my mother-in-law to help me troubleshoot, and hours of practice, it finally clicked.

And I was hooked… pun intended.

How We Got Here…

Fitting in time to crochet has always been a challenge.

I homeschool my 3 girls and I’m a pastor’s wife. Believe me, life can get crazy.

Here’s what I needed as a crocheter:

  • Stitches that were easy
  • Projects that could be made fast
  • Patterns that were easy to read.

So… I started designing patterns like that in 2011.

I’m still designing patterns that make it easier to fit crocheting into my busy life and I love helping other yarn-lovers do the same!

This website has been my place to share my quick, easy, and beautiful crochet patterns with others. It’s my hope that others will find these patterns easy to follow and use like I do.

The crochet patterns below are a few that crocheters have fallen in love with over the years. I know they’re going to be go-tos in your crochet pattern collection, too!

Family…

My husband and I have three daughters. As of March of 2025, we have two teenagers in the house.

While all three of the girls have dabbled with crochet, none of them have fallen in love with the hobby… yet.

I’d love for Daisy Cottage Designs to become a family business one day, but we’ll see what direction our girls want to go in the future.

Education

  • Homeschool – my mom homeschooled my brother and me during our k-12 years. I’m so thankful for the investment she made into our futures.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary EducationStetson University in DeLand, Florida

Fun fact: I spent the first part of my college career as a piano performance major. Even though I changed majors, I still play with our church choir and when my girls need someone to accompany them in their violin recitals.

Career Path

  • 2004-2015 – Private Piano Teacher
  • 2008-2010 – 3rd Grade Teacher
  • 2015-2022 – Graphic Designer focusing on shower and party invitations
  • 2011-Present – Crochet Designer and Blogger here at Daisy Cottage Designs

Fun fact: I also spent my high school summers teaching tennis at our local racquet club.

Let’s keep in touch.

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions about patterns or just want to connect with me. I get a lot of emails, but I do my best to respond.
