Simple Crochet Baby Blanket
I get more questions about how I make this blanket than any other project I’ve ever done. It’s a simple pattern (keep reading… I’m going to share): I could reinvent the wheel and write it out; but really, it’s all over the internet. I think what catches people’s eye with this blanket is the color scheme. They’re not traditional baby blanket colors by any means.
This blanket is just a traditional granny square. You can find all the details for how I make mine here. It’s my most popular post so be sure to head over and check it out. It’s the same blanket using different yarn colors.I also get asked what colors I use. This particular blanket is all Lily Sugar ‘n’ Cream yarn. I used robin’s egg blue, red, mustard, and white. Mustard is getting more and more difficult to find, but I actually found it in the huge skeins at Joann’s not too long ago.
The edging of this granny square blanket is a simple picot. Fun to say and fun to make, the instructions are available in the post I linked to before. In case you weren’t convinced then, you should definitely go read how I make my granny square blankets.
I also really like this tiny scallop border. It’s especially nice for baby girls. For this edging, you’ll join your contrasting yarn in any hdc, then you’ll ch 2 and hdc in the same stitch. *Skip 2 stitches, ch 2, hdc in the same stitch* all the way around.

I love your little scallop edging! Definitely saving that to add to some of my future projects. You're absolutely right about the mustard color yarn too. I've looked at all the stores in my area and can't find any! Thank goodness for online shopping.

Love the blanket & the borders! I think there's a small error in the pattern for the tiny scallop border though. It should read *Skip 2 stitches, sl st, ch 2, hdc in the same stitch.* :)Thanks for providing these! They're just what I'm looking for!
