Summertime Popsicle Graphgan Crochet Pattern
I have a confession: this is my first completed graphgan crochet project.
The idea came to me when some friends were helping me name the Sunrise Sorbet blanket. One of the names I came up included the name “popsicle.” Though that name didn’t make the cut, it sparked the idea for this fun blanket.
I drew out my design, came up with a plan… and it the crochet graphgan didn’t work out quite right the first time. Or the second.
But, after frogging (pulling out) portions of the blanket about 7 times, I finally got the shape the way I liked it.
I made the pink and purple popsicle first. Then, an old friend had boy/girl twins and I just knew I had to make the second blanket so I could send her one for each of her precious babies.
Thankfully, graphgan crochet isn’t nearly as scary as it seems. If you’ve never dabbled with it before, this graphgan crochet blanket a fantastic first project.
You won’t have multiple color changes and you’ll only be working with two colors at a time.
I knew that I didn’t want to use the classic C2C stitch (which is so popular for graphgan crochet projects), so I decided to use half double crochet stitches worked in the back loop so the blanket would have fantastic texture and great drape. The blanket turned out just as soft as I had hoped.
If the idea of changing colors in the middle of a row is intimidating, I promise it’s not difficult! I have a video tutorial walking you through it. And, if you feel like you need more help, there are lots of in depth tutorials on YouTube!
Let’s get started!
P.S. Obviously, my daughter loves these blankets. : )

Bobble Border Pattern:
(video instructions available here)
All stitches in the border are worked under both loops.
Round 1: sc in each stitch around the blanket. Work *sc, ch 2, sc* in each corner stitch.
Cut yarn and weave ends.
Join Lollipop Love in any corner stitch.
Round 2: Ch 1, *sc, dc4tog, sc* in the corner stitch. *Sc in the next 3 stitches, dc4tog* across to the next corner. Work *sc, dc4tog, sc* in each corner stitch and *sc in the next 3 stitches, dc4tog* across each edge. Sl st to the top of the first sc to join.
Cut yarn and weave ends.
Note: Depending on how many sc you worked along your edges, you might be a stitch short or have an extra stitch… you won’t notice if there are only two stitches between a couple of bobbles, or if you have to add a fourth sc to get to a corner.
Turn your work over (you want to work into the side where the bobbles are popping out). Join Ivory in any corner stitch.
Round 3: Ch 2, *dc, ch 2, dc* in the same corner stitch. Dc in each stitch around the blanket. Work *dc, ch 2, dc* in each corner. Sl st to the top of the first dc to join.
Cut yarn and weave ends.
Join Orchid yarn in any stitch.
Round 4: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around the blanket. Work *sc, ch 2, sc* in each corner. Sl st to the top of the first sc to join.
Cut yarn and weave ends.
